And girls.
How long is it really going to take? Closest gets one free internet that was given to me in the first place. Will let you know when it’s done in a couple weeks.
I’m shooting for 24, personally.

27, maybe.

You wont make it for 24. Google maps told.me 17 for kingston-tbay, and i took 22. Im going to guess closer to 28. Maybe 29 hours

It had better take less than 28

In the family, it’s been done in 24 or less. But it’s also been done in in 36 or more. Depends more on the passengers than anything, and this time I have a fairly promising batch.
But like I said, “shooting for”. We’ll see how that goes. Your vote has been recorded, keep your fingers crossed :)

My thoughts exactly. Or the passengers responsible will find themselves left behind.

Including stops?

Yes. Leave 2AM, arrive 2AM. Hopefully. We’ll see.

I can almost see my house on that map...

YYZ to YWG, basically.

Where u at?
![]() 08/04/2016 at 16:34 |

Took me 16 or so hours to do this:
I think with stops you should be able to do it in 24.

I’ve done this trip (and then some) on my bike four times. It’s really beautiful between Kenora and Sudbury, but do not speed through Northern Ontario. Seriously. Don’t.

Small-town fuzz out for money.
How much over did they grab you for?
![]() 08/04/2016 at 16:40 |

I can sorta see where I grew up on that map. How much do you speed? 5-10 over?

It’ll be closer to 28 or 29. Back in my grad school days, I made the drive from Houston to Harrisonburg, VA a few times (to see my fiancée), and Google estimates 18 hrs. I made it in 24, and that was driving straight by myself. With coffee and pee breaks (in that order), and a very brief nap at a rest area when I absolutely couldn’t keep my eyes open any more, plus stops for food and gas, it was a solid 24. I left at 10 pm, hoping circadian rhythm would help. It didn’t. Remember, Google assumes you never have to stop.

I’m ashamed to admit they nabbed me going just about 60 over.
Luckily I was able to get off with a pretty friendly warning. I think they took pity on me because it was about 5 degrees out and I was coming from Alberta - it was the final stretch and I was trying to get to Toronto before rush-hour set in.
On another trip I was able to make it from Nelson, BC to Mississauga in 31 hrs, going through Canada. Mind you it was in a car and I had another driver with me. The Prairies were a blur.

30 hours +/-2. I know a guy who does it a couple times a year. The one time I did it it took 66 hours, including a 35-hour delay for a transmission change.

Pretty much

roger that...goddamn every road up there is 90 or less, I got dinged big time along the north shore of Superior some years back, it sucked.

See my reply to PeterVN for the reason for my optimism. That and there was a post I made a couple weeks ago where I noted that Google appeared to have me traveling at a ridiculously low pace through one stretch. Something like 3-5kph iirc.
But like I said place your bets. Anything under about 28-29 hours is respectable going on this trip, and I know 24 is very possible. Whether it will be possible for US... Honestly no idea, but the target is set :)

Be safe!

Depends. Main, 80-90kph stretches, probably 15 average. Towns, probably no more than 10. Small town fuzz after cash and so on. Dirt, whatever is possible. The dirt leg north probably won’t be very fast, but the Sultan Industrial Road that runs east-west, also dirt, has a speed limit of 70k and logging trucks doing a routine 110, so we’ll see...

Ah, OK. Didn’t think they were SUPER sticky. I should be fine.
And the prairies should be a blur. At normal speeds they suuuuuuuck. Of course, the Manitoba cops have that figured out too...

That’s the first thing.

I just looked at the map on the computer rather than the phone. It looks like a fabulous route. My dad took me and my brother to Sault Ste. Marie probably 40 years ago, and I’ve always wanted to go back. One of these days, I’ll take my boys up there. We’ve made drives both east and west from Texas, but never north. That would be quite a drive, and my God! The construction! Similar length of journey, though. We could make it in two days.

21.5 hrs

Yeah, it’s some pretty spectacular territory :)

Now that’s a challenge. We’ll see.

New Yawker?

But in the rest of the state, not that hang nail of an island that houses Gawker...
I don’t live in New York City - it’s a 6 hour drive away, people! Pretty damn big state! I’m not yelling! No you shut up!
/goddammit

Ah, so Neew Yacker, not New Yawker? And 6 hours... that puts you about the Syracuse area?
:)

I drove from Toronto to Duluth in 19 hours, but I drove under lake superior, though the “deer and black bear capitol of North America” at night. In the rain. You should be around 22hrs to/from Winnipeg if you stick north of the lake, and keep speeds above 110.
We used to do a google certified 22hr drive in 15hrs. But that’s in Northern Alberta, and you can go 130 alllll day long.
![]() 08/05/2016 at 11:29 |

Above 110 is likely to be hairy considering it’s small town cops and we’ll be hitting the more preferred moose territory at night, or at least dusk. But it’s definitely going to be as close as possible.

I actually say “York” but I’ve been told I have a very Midwestern accent for a New Yorker but Syracuse area is kinda York-y.
